[311] Nick: Question: susandanica: Do you have any rituals that you do before going out on stage?

Answer: [311] Nick: Well,

[311] Nick: I like to do yoga, warm up my voice, and drink a red bull

[311] P-nut: I do yoga for about thirty minutes and listen to musick and try not to jump out of my skin

 

[311] Nick: Question: kainiac: What album was the most fun to record?

Answer: I think the music album was the most fun because it was all so new

 

[311] P-nut: Question: Given the opportunity to be on "Guitar Hero 3" would you?

Answer: [311] P-nut: hell yes

[311] P-nut: it's going to be a classic

[311] Nick: Yeah, guitar here is dope. Tim and Chad are really good at it

 

[311] Nick: Question: imespinster: What was your first game system and what was your favorite childhood game?

Answer: I had the very first home game system. Radio Shack pong!!!

 

[311] P-nut: Question: |TM|TyroneBigsby: How did you guys feel about the turn out that you received in Atlanta last night??

Answer: turn out was great, the people in atlanta always make the show great

 

[311] Nick: Question: starcreator311: what video game do you guys think has the best soundtrack?

Answer: I have spent many an hour playing resistance fall of man on the ps3

[311] Nick: That is my fav

[311] Nick: the sound and graphics are amazing

[311] P-nut: the tony hawk games have an edge on their soundtrack, and I like that

 

[311] Nick: Question: intahoelove: do you get nervous before shows still?

Answer: [311] Nick: Well, Not really nervous. Just excited

[311] Nick: That's a positive thing. It's not fear it's more like raw energy

 

[311] Nick: Question: TM|TyroneBigsby: How did you guys feel about the turn out that you received in Atlanta last night??

Answer: [311] Nick: We were so stoked! The truth is that are last album was over two years and it only did so-so and we're still growing . That's al privilege!

 

[311] P-nut: Question: kainiac: When did you guys first become interested in music as a career?

Answer: [311] P-nut: when I met nick, i could tell the it would taken to the next next level, before that I was in garage bands

 

[311] Nick: Question: Kage: What influences your musical style? (namely bands, people you know, etc.)

Answer: [311] Nick: The Clash, The Beatles, Bad Brains, etc....

 

[311] Nick: Question: Em: Do you enjoy creating music or performing better?

Answer: [311] Nick: It's like breakfast vs. dinner. Both are delicious! Really you need an album to put forth new music. But nothing beats the live experience.

[311] P-nut: both are great, learning is always the key, growikng in both regions is best

 

[311] Nick: Question: Torvald: what does 311 symbolize as a name?

Answer: It's the police code for indecent exposure in our home town of Omaha

 

[311] Nick: Question: Shiraz: First off I just want to say, I saw you guys for the 21st time, on Wednesday in Tampa and I wanted to say thanks for a GREAT show....you never dissapoint on your summer tours but I wish you had played cali soca! Secondly, what do you guys think about the recent shift in popular culture towards gaming? I have listened to you guys since '93 and you have always had songs about the power of technology and transistor really brought a lot of your views to light. Does it feel good to see the masses embracing the ideas that you guys have been singing about for so long?

Answer: [311] P-nut: technology is always going to influence thought and the longer we live the more faster and hopefully better we'll be able to use tech

[311] Nick: The Tampa show was extra special for me. I can't say why. Harmonic convergence or something. Regarding gaming, I'd like to see more games like Guitar Hero that encourage more diverse skills and different art forms.

 

[311] P-nut: Question: Traction Street Team: if you were to go on tour, what would your dream lineup be in terms of supporting bands? Past and Present bands.

Answer: [311] P-nut: those incubus, no coubt, deftones, korn days were pretty fun

 

[311] P-nut: Question: unity311style: have you guys already started making demos for the new cd while on the road? or are you waiting til the tour is over?

Answer: [311] P-nut: I think everybody has something right now, but, we are waiting to really dig in when the touring is over for this year

 

[311] Nick: Question: tasker12: Nick, do you ever see yourself running for any public office one day?

Answer: haHa Not really. I think that working towards unity and tolerence is my calling and being a musician is the best way I can see helping that

 

[311] P-nut: Question: tasker12: Pnut, if you were asked to star in a new Punisher movie, would you do it?

Answer: [311] P-nut: I don't know about staring but, I would love to be in a punisher movie, maybe make it a little cooler

 

[311] Nick: Question: BFM_Knight †┌╦╤─ iPwn™: Do you think your record label is doing a fine job of putting 311 out there?

Answer: Yeah, the records are in all the stores and they have a good promo staff so I think they are fine. Both sides can always improve.

 

[311] Nick: Question: ≤FøC≥ Digital: starting your journey as a band was it hard to not doubt yourself once and awhile , like to

maybe think "what am i doing, should I be going to college?"

Answer: Yes, that happens to the best of us. We felt that we had stumbled onto something really unique and needed to stick with it.

 

[311] Nick: Question: girlnext33doors: What is your greatest and most memorable experiece with the band?

Answer: The St Louis show a couple of weeks ago comes to mind. I had a blast.

 

[311] P-nut: Question: tasker12: You have been on tour for almost 20 years (counting back from 1990) Does it ever get hard to leave home and be on the road?

Answer: [311] P-nut: yeah it's hard to be away from home, but, being away make me see right in front of my face how happy I am at home, it works

 

[311] Nick: Question: timespinster: How much work are those mini-studios in the back of your buses been doing?

Answer: None lately. I have just been playing my acoustic guitar a lot.

[311] P-nut: my hands are hamburger so it's hard to play extra

 

[311] Nick: Question: susandanica: Did you feel that Blake Lewis did your song justice when he sang it on American Idol?

Answer: Yes. I did.

[311] P-nut: yeah, blake did good

 

[311] P-nut: Question: mariav23: first of all I wanted to thank you guys for making music that I enjoy so much, I cannot put into words how it makes me feel. Does it give you satisfaction knowing that it is you that has made this possible for your fans?

Answer: [311] P-nut: we love passing on good feelings, it's a good reason to go on tour

 

[311] Nick: Question: mistycrisel: Do you guys play any games together while your on the road?

Answer: Yeah, it takes a couple of weeks at the start of each tour to get used to a new routine. I'm loving the road now. The first five days or so were harder.

[311] P-nut: what games do you guys play?

 

[311] P-nut: Question: Torvald: where are you guys right now?

Answer: [311] P-nut: we're in a satellite on the dark side of the mOOn

 

[311] Nick: Question: Kage: How could you guys possibly play 65 songs in Memphis on 3/11/2006? How did you not die from exhaustion? Also, any plans for another 3/11 day?

Answer: It was fun more than hard. The Running a marathon with an injured foot, now that was hard!

[311] P-nut: yah nick's foot was fud up

 

[311] P-nut: Question: laura311: do you have anything special that you just cant not have with you on tour?

Answer: [311] P-nut: warcraft

 

[311] Nick: Question: creature4awhile: back in 88 did you ever think you would have the fan base you have today?

Answer: To be honest, yes. We always believed that there were no limits. That doesn't mean we take it for granted for one second.

 

[311] Nick: Question: mariav23: first of all I wanted to thank you guys for making music that I enjoy so much, I cannot put into words how it makes me feel. Does it give you satisfaction knowing that it is you that has made this possible for your fans?

Answer: Thank you for saying that. It is very satisfying.

 

[311] Nick: Question: Em: What was the first instrument you owned?

Answer: We had a piano in the house. Started at age 5. Switched to guitar at age 12.

[311] P-nut: I played violin at seven

[311] P-nut: I ruled at it

[311] P-nut: hehe

[311] P-nut: *squeak*

 

[311] Nick: Question: Wendiloo: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING TO DO TO UNWIND AFTER A LONG NIGHT?

Answer: Eat lots of food and talk to my friends.

[311] Nick: Question: Torvald: what is your favorite brand of guitars? Gibson!

Answer: [311] P-nut: warwick

[311] P-nut: and it's a bass damnit

 

[311] Nick: Question: Ekofu: How was the band influenced after the 9/11 attacks? Was there any change at all? or were you all just struck deeply like the rest of us?

Answer: We knew that the world needed a positive message more than ever.

[311] P-nut: the whole world was effected by the attacks

[311] P-nut: what was wierd was playing a show the next day

[311] P-nut: so cold

 

[311] P-nut: Question: creature4awhile: what kind of car(s) do you drive? HYBRID??????

[311] Nick: I drive a hybrid Lexus

[311] Nick: It's fast. But not as fast as P-Nut's next car!! Jerk!

 

[311] Nick: Question: Three to the Eleven: You have a really strong, supporting fan base, do the fans inspire you to keep going?

Answer: For sure. When building a set list, we try to imagine the fans out there and what would make it the most enjoyable for them.

 

[311] Nick: Question: starcreator311: will you do the 08 marathon?

Answer: Doubt it!

 

[311] Nick: Question: girlnext33doors: Where do you guys get all of the energy to "Freak Out" on tour?

Answer: From a balenced diet with essential vitamins and minerals.

[311] P-nut: the fans help us to the infinite degree

 

[311] Nick: Question: kainiac: Do you guys think you'll be like The Rolling Stones, playing music and concerts till 150 years old?

Answer: We'll probably cap it off at age 125.

 

[311] Nick: Question: laura311: first i want to start with saying yall are my all time favorite band!!! i have seen yall too many times to count in concert and it seems that yall just get better and better...i want to know what do you do in your spare time on your busses when going from state to state?

Answer: I do a lot of resting. Honestly, I don't know how I used to pack so much in my day. Now I keep my life uncluttered. I try to stay in the moment. I meditate and write in my journal.

 

[311] P-nut: Question: girlieinsd: First of all I want to thank you for your music I've seen you 53 times and no concert is the same. Secondly, do you like to change up each show and does it just happen, like do you play something that maybe isn't on your setlist

Answer: [311] P-nut: it happens, but rarly, like a huge crowd chating a particular song

[311] P-nut: thanks for seeing us so much you make our 311 world go round

[311] Nick: Yeah, we like to mix up the set list. Some of the crowd are repeaters like you (wow! 53) but many are newcomers so we try to cater for both

Answer: I've been studying the classics. Today it's Thoreau's Walden.

[311] Nick: I'm allso reading the Aerosmith bio.

Answer: [311] P-nut: jerry was a race car driver

 

[311] Nick: Question: creature4awhile: If you could be anything other then a rockstar, what would it be?

Answer: I do have a strong interest in politics and activism but music is more fun!

Answer: A boot to the face. I was pissed.

 

[311] P-nut: Question: kainiac: Is it fun knowing that when you started as musicians, you had really crappy equipment, and now that you're famous, you can buy any equipment you want and play you're dream instrument

Answer: [311] P-nut: what crappy equipment?

[311] Nick: Question: К³» Izzio X2: What music have you been listening to the most lately (other than 311 and matisyahu?

Answer: I am into the Amy Winehouse record.

Answer: Hostile Apostle.

Answer: System of a Down.

[311] Nick: Question: tasker12: Thank you for the show in Birmingham. The energy was incredible. Do you feel as though the crowd brings it more or do you create the feel on a night like that?

Answer: For sure. We don't think of the band ending at the front of the stage. We are enjoying the crowd as much as them, us. It's a collective experience that is different every night based on the crowd, weather, etc....

 

[311] Nick: Question: girlnext33doors: What quality do you think makes you guys stand out from other bands?

Answer: Gratitude and dedication.

[311] P-nut: our hands on approach

 

[311] P-nut: Question: jmac311: Did you hear about the water fuel cell from ohio, its a big controversy because it was developed 12 years ago?

Answer: [311] P-nut: no sounds cool, I believe it, we need to further our advancement in new fuels

 

[311] P-nut: Question: eman311: Will you ever release the transistor b-sides or any other unreleased material?

Answer: [311] P-nut: yeah, it's always just a matter of time, but can't say when hate to say

[311] Nick: I made some friends with 311 fans on Resistance: Fall of Man. Started my own 311 clan!

[311] P-nut: what's cool is that we tape all the shows

[311] P-nut: I like pie

[311] Nick: I like ice cream.

 

[311] P-nut: Question: Em: If you could cover an entire CD by another band, what would it be?

Answer: [311] P-nut: that's hard

[311] P-nut: umm

[311] P-nut: I like rock musick

[311] P-nut: rastaman vibration by bob marley

 

[311] Nick: Question: «ڰĐК³» Izzio X2: I saw you guys in Columbus a couple years ago, and it was amazing. The extended drum solo on Applied Science was really cool and surprised me. I'd like to see more stuff like that - does it take a lot of rehearsing, or does the band have a really good ability for improv?

Answer: We will probably improv more in the future.

 

[311] Nick: Question: MasterRen: mosquito77: HEY NICK, I saw your vacation home show on the Travel Channel. Have you been running around naked, frolicing on the beach lately?! Looks like fun!!

Answer: [311] Nick: Yes! It's fun! Try it.

 

[311] Nick: Question: laura311: how does it feel to know that even after all the years yall have been around when you have a concert people still show up hours if not days in advance to hold their spot in line to make sure they are on the floor for the show?

Answer: When we hear about things like that it inspires us to work hard to be ready for a great show.

 

[311] P-nut: Question: girlnext33doors: What's the hardest show you've ever had to perform?

Answer: [311] P-nut: those 311 days are a beeatch

 

[311] Nick: Question: Traction Street Team: Nick, are there any plans ot have your brother tour with you? Do you ever get time to see him play?

Answer: He plays out in LA quite a bit and iI get to watch him frequently.

 

 

[311] P-nut: Question: Three to the Eleven: P-Nut, you are just simply amazing at Bass, how old were you when you first started playing it?

Answer: [311] P-nut: I am just good

[311] P-nut: I was eleven

[311] P-nut: now I am 33

[311] P-nut: I better be good

 

[311] P-nut: Question: Kage: P-nut, can you briefly describe how geeky/techy you truly are? Are you just an general electronics nut, or do you know how to program and do networking, etc.?

Answer: [311] P-nut: I am a funktional geek

[311] P-nut: I can't program sheet

[311] P-nut: I am a gamer

[311] P-nut: and I love thinking about the future

 

[311] Nick: Question: creature4awhile: Why weren't you at Live Earth? Have you met Gore?

Answer: We weren't asked! But our busses are currently running on bio-diesel.

 

[311] Nick: Question: depace: Any words of wisdom/encouragement to someone who wants to start out in the music industry?

Answer: Practice a lot.

Answer: The raconteurs.

Answer: Hell yeah! Hook it up!

 

[311] P-nut: Question: timespinster: Have you ever been mobbed by fans while doing something ordinary in public, like shopping or something?

Answer: [311] P-nut: we like mobbing the fans ourselves

[311] P-nut: oddly enough we've been mobbed in japan

[311] P-nut: and at poorly planned meat and greets

 

[311] Nick: Question: What are your best memoris from being a band in high school?

Answer: Me and Tim's band won a bunch of battles of the bands in Omaha. We were stoked!
